Take pictures like a pro
Home and Leisure December 06, 2024
The holidays are full of magic—whether you're road-tripping along the coast, enjoying a backyard braai, or simply gathering with family at home. While the moments might look a little different for everyone, one thing is certain: you’ll want to capture the memories
So, we’re going to challenge you to create an album filled with pictures titled Holidays 2025 and because we’re fair, we won’t challenge you without giving you the necessary tools to achieve this challenge.
Tips on taking pictures like a pro
1. Golden Hour Is Your Best Friend!
Those soft, warm light moments just before sunrise or sunset make everything look amazing.
2. Capture the Chaos
You don’t need a perfect, posed shot to create beautiful memories—sometimes, it’s the candid moments that truly shine! Get your kids jumping on the trampoline, your pet stealing food off the table, or the kids running wild in the garden.
3. Group Shots
Whether you're hosting family or having a small gathering, group photos are a must. But forget the stiff, formal poses—get everyone to laugh, jump, or pull funny faces! Try a fun theme like matching T-shirts or goofy hats to make your holiday group shot extra memorable.
4. Get Up Close and Personal
Don’t forget the small moments that make the holidays special! A close-up of your holiday feast, the decorations, or your kids putting the star on top of the tree can add beautiful detail to your holiday album.
5. Make Your Photos Fun with Props
Props are a great way to spice up your holiday photos, especially if you’re hosting. Think funky Christmas hats, giant candy canes, or even your family’s favourite Christmas jerseys (if you can stand the heat)!
6. Play with Shadows and Reflections – It’s All About the Light
Get creative by capturing those fun reflections of Christmas lights on your windows or shadows of your family dancing around the tree. Play around with light and see how it can make ordinary moments feel magical.
7. Selfies with a Twist!
Selfies aren’t just for solo trips—they’re great for capturing fun family moments too! Whether you're enjoying a backyard braai, a Christmas movie marathon, or just hanging out together, snap some selfies.
8. Take a Few Candids
These candid shots add an authentic, heartfelt touch to your album and will remind you of all the small, meaningful moments that make your holidays so special.
9. Edit to Add Some Extra Holiday Magic!
A little editing can turn a good shot into a fantastic one, and it’s a great way to add extra holiday sparkle to your pics.
10. Print Your Best Shots
The best part about taking photos is sharing them, and there’s no better way to do that than printing them out! Whether it’s a framed picture of the family around the tree or a fun collage of your holiday moments, printed photos bring the magic to life.
So, whether you’re staying home this holiday season or heading out on a little adventure, remember it’s the everyday moments that make the holidays special. So, get your camera out, get creative, and start capturing the laughter, love, and holiday cheer!
